The book that I want to tell you about is Dracula by Bram Stoker; however, it has been adapted by Michael Mucci, Ben Caldwell, and Bill Halliar. This book is fantasy and it is a graphic novel.
This book reminds me of a book about Vlad the Impaler (text-to-text connection). In this graphic novel (Dracula) it tells you information about the real “Dracula” a.k.a. Vlad the Impaler. It is very interesting to find out how we get modern versions of vampires.
The main character in this book is an English estate agent by the name of Jonathan Harker. He travels to Transylvania to work for his new client, Count Dracula. Jonathan begins to notice strange things in the count’s castle…
…things that make Jonathan question his own sanity. In fact, Jonathan keeps a journal of all of his strange occurences in Dracula’s castle. One occurence involves three brides of Dracula that tempt and lure Jonathan. Eventually, Dracula requests that Jonathan send a large amount of coffins to England so they will be “ready” for his arrival. Jonathan finds this request extremely odd.
Back in England, strange things are occurring to Johnathan’s fiance, Mina, and her good friend, Lucy. Eventually, Lucy becomes a vampire and small children start to disappear.
The problem in Dracula is trying to figure out who/what is causing so much havoc in England. What role does Count Dracula have in the scheme of things? Does Jonathan go back to England or become a vampire in the count’s castle?
To find out what happens, you must read Dracula by Bram Stoker. If you enjoy books that involve fantasy and mystery, then you should definitely check this out!

Students, Parent(s), & Guardian(s):
Greetings! It is with great pleasure that I welcome your child to my class. We can all look forward to a very exciting and rewarding school year. I have very high expectations for all of my students and I expect that they have the same of me. As we begin this year, I challenge my students to apply themselves from day one. I can promise that every time they walk into this classroom they will walk into an environment that is set up for positive learning and growth to take place.
As a highly qualified teacher, I can assure you that everything we do will have a purpose and a goal. Your child and his/her classmates will learn to work together in order to accomplish the daily classroom activities.
In order to provide my students with the excellent educational climate they deserve, I have developed the attached classroom syllabus and procedures. The syllabus and procedures will be in effect at all times. I have already reviewed the classroom procedures and policies with your child, but would appreciate it if you would review it with him/her.
I want to wish all students good luck as they learn what it feels like to be a good reader and writer. I promise it will be a voyage they will not forget. This voyage will not always be easy; I plan on pushing my students to their maximum ability. I am confident that this challenge will create a result they never thought could occur. Thank you for giving me the chance to be a part of this growth.
Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or concerns. I look forward to teaching your child this year. Let’s get ready for a great year!
